For their 3rd Poe adaption, Charlton tackled possibly the most famous and popular of all his stories.  Even as in the movies, this would be adapted many times in comics over the years.

The artist, Gustav Schrotter, was active in comics until the early 1950s, at which time he moved into children's book illustration.  Like most of Charlton's Poe adaptations, it's a bit on the crude, primitive side, but it does follow the original short story rather faithfully.

This was his 2nd of 2 Poe adaptations.

On 8-14-2020, I found a coverless copy of this book on Ebay-- CHEAP!  As of 10-5-2020, I finished a MAJOR upgrade of the images.  This was one of the most time-consuming clean-ups I've done in this entire project, especially given it's only a 7-page story.  But considering this is now the single-OLDEST comic-book in my entire collection, I think it was worth it.

I thought it was interesting how part of the 1960 movie poster used the SAME camera angle as this panel from the 1944 comic-book adaptation.
