Space Conquerors, 1964

(Continued from 1963)

Someone's interest must have gone up by this point. 1964 marks the 1st time since 1953 that SPACE CONQUERORS! appears in all 12 months' worth of issues!

Here's a bonus from October 1964, an article about Space Clothing. The design seen in the illustration was never actually used by NASA astronauts, but, it was included as part of the 1st year's worth of MAJOR MATT MASON ("Mattel's Man In Space") toy line in 1966.

  1. This strikes me as an odd story arc in SPACE CONQUERORS! Like Al Stenzel was changing his mind month to month what story he wanted to tell. First there's all this bit about shadow people, and then, out of nowhere one of the crew suddenly develops this theory that they are people made of antimatter, and then, as a preemptive strike, they start drilling the planet with lasers to destroy where they think these antimatter people are --- and then, oops, wait, actually, we've been drilling into old nuclear reactors, there aren't any shadow people, now the planet is going to explode in 15 minutes! And, another planet destroyed by the SPACE CONQUERORS!

  2. Maybe they should have called them "SPACE DESTRUCTORS" (like that 3rd-season LOST IN SPACE episode).

The new crew member reminds me a bit of "Captain Cosmos" (Nick Cuti) from a few decades later.
